Actually, not only your time and date get reset, but your CMOS settings too..
This is because all of this are saved and kept alive by the motherboard. But it also need power to do that..
So the motherboard need a battery that can keep the time correctly, just like a timepiece..
Just replace the battery, get into CMOS to set the time..
You can also do this after booting into windows..
The clock is at the bottom right of the desktop.. Good luck..

Everyone here is correct, you need to replace your motherboard battery. It's ususally a flat battery a little smaller than the size of a quarter.
Until then, instead of powering off, try using the standby or hibernate features. This leaves a very small amount of power on and should maintain your time and date. On my laptop, I always use Standby, that way it's an instant startup from whereever I was last.

every time you switch off power, the time and date always keeps updated by power supplied by a small battery. it is round shaped steel like disk just as a back of steel watch. it is located on the main pcb (motherboard)inside the cpu cabinet. just try and remove it and again reinsert it if some dust is there. or try to replace it with your friends computer for checking. if problem is solved , you can buy a new one and insert it.if even by replacing battery no results then it may be motherboard problem try for servicing it.
