Absolutely. I need another 100 points to get to Level 2, yet I have no idea what happens when I get there. This has not stopped me desperately trying to get there. I am a slave to Answers.

In some reason Yes, it is a waste of time and effort, more expense on electric bills, lessen sleep because of 8 hours sleep you are in this section the whole night and sleep only for 1 hour or 2 hours, sometimes you forget to drink water, forget to eat your lunch and your eats between meals.
Yes that is true. in point making but the refuse to get knowledge of the doubts. They don"t believe the supposed knowledge which the answerer may give.

This would depend.
Some people seem interested more in gaining points.
I for one, am not into that, barely at level 2 currently, I told myself, that every answer I gave would be a serious, and well thought answer.
I believe that Yahoo Answers is and was designed to answer the questions that most people would be afraid of asking to someone face to face or to find the answer to a question they couldn't find the answers to online. A way to integrate knowledge with person to person discussion. A pooling of minds, to create a more effective way of finding an answer (be it professional or researched) rather than fishing blindly in the knowledge pool of the internet.

Agreed. I use it to try to get answers to serious questions I have and rather than get answers I get smug people telling me I'm stupid because they've not read the question (or any edits) in full. This is something that the Internet as a whole still lacks - the ability to receive a direct answer to a direct question.

No it isn't. There are wise people sharing their experiences and knwoledge with others. Other people are seeking for answers. So it is mutual understanding for roles in here.
For example, I can give answers in some topics but on the other hand I look for answers in another topic that I don't have enough information about it.

Most of us make much better talkers than listeners. I think it depends on our mood. Here we can vent if we are ticked, give a thumbs down to any one we want, or we can ask a question and reward someone with points. It is a waste of time if it crowds out normal living.

it is not a waste of time when you want information, opinions & answers to your questions. you simply post a question or even type in your subject and find your answers without even asking because someone else has already asked the same thing.
people who answer your questions might be wasting their time?
it can be a waste of time when you spend too much time reading & answering questions like i am right now. ;)
i never thought i would enjoy it so much.

I am not into the points, I'm into helping others with sincere questions and are seeking answers from those of us that have the knowledge to answer those questions.

I have never learned so much about point making and rudeness and bashing in all my life as 1 month on Yahoo Q/A
I think your right.

i agree, but for every dumb answer or critizism there is usually a few people who make answers based on knowledge and for some people it really helps them out.
i think its just something to pass the time.
