when u exercise you are making your body work.. the heart lungs blood vessels. all of this contributes to a healtier body and also to your endurance... labor is your hardest and most demanding job.... if your body is in good shape then you will handle it much better and also you will be able to function better when the time comes for pushing... your endurance will be built up.... there are really so very many reasons that its beneficial. also the endorphins released during exercise can help your body prepare to cope with the pain... during labor your natural endorphins will kick in just as they do after or during a cardio work out and it will help ease the pain... and its also proven that a healthy body has a shorter labor.

Yes and no. Yes for all the reasons mentioned above: you'll be in better physical shape, and labour is one of the most physically demanding jobs a woman ever has to do.
Specific exercises will also help you manage certain unpleasant effects of pregnancy, such as backaches.
No, only in exceptional cases: women who exercise a lot (and I mean, a _lot_, like long-distance runners, for example), especially if they have very little body fat, tend to have slightly lower hormone levels than women who exercise moderately or not at all. The result is that labour is sometimes a bit slower (i.e., longer) for women who are extremely athletic.
For the vast majority of women, however, a moderate exercise regimen is a great way to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

Well, it strengthens the muscles you will need and improves general health. As for which exercises, these can be fun...Kegels, obviously, and squatting and walking, and the best of all...sex! Having sex (as long as your doctor hasn't told you not to) is the best exercise, it exercises all the right muscles and is probably the most fun. No sit ups or any other abdominal exercises, they will put too much strain on the abdominal wall. I cannot overstate the importance of Kegels, especially if this is your first baby. This is the how and why, but you should talk to your doctor about exercise during pregnancy too.

It will not only strengthen your stamina in labor, it has many prenatal advantages as well. Quality exercise will reduce vericose veins, swelling, and constipation.
Oh... and postpartum, it will help you get rid of that baby weight.
