I don't think that I'm having Braxton Hicks contractions, but I don't think I'm having actual labor contractions, either. My doctor isn't concerned, so please don't say "Talk to your doctor..." I just have bad cramping, almost every day, and have had them for weeks. I'm at 28 weeks, and can't imagine going through this every day for the next 3 months... any advice/'been there, done that' tips? I'm also on my third pregnancy, so I do know what labor feels like, I've just never had this cramping this often, and this early. TIA

Oh honey, you sound like me! I'm at 34 weeks with my third and boy howdy! This baby is going STRAIGHT to time out, no warmer, no crib, straight into the corner! My abdomen has been cramping since week 24. Sometimes it gets so tight that I can't even walk. It makes it really hard to care for the other two and we won't even talk about grocery shopping.
As for what to do. Tylenol helps a little on days when its REALLY bad. And drinking lots of water helps too. Eating bananas and potatoes (potassium) helps a lot. Treat the cramps like you would a charlie horse in your leg at night. Sit down for awhile, with your feet up. Let the muscle relax before you try to move too much. (This gets tricky at lunch time with little ones, keep some suckers or chips handy to tide the kids over for a half hour or so). Take lost of time to sit down and rest throughout the day, it really helps.
As for dealing for the next three months, I don't know what to tell you, I made it, you will make it. I hope your cramping goes away but mine didn't.
Tips for Walmart, take the hubby and drive the stupid motorized cart things (slow, annoying and a little embarassing if you have to back up but worth it because you can still move when you get home).
The cramps can feel like the uterus is hardening but not like a proper contraction, if you fight through them (which was my original strategy) they can end up causing rythmic contractions which gets scary so take them as a sign to sit the heck down and rest. Tell hubby, "The doctor said I need to lay down or sit down when these happen." Then make him do the "jump and run" stuff for the kids (you know, the drinks, the toy crises etc). Good luck and best wishes

Bad cramping at 28 weeks is not a good sign. Has your doctor physically checked you out or just given you the "that's normal braxton hicks" line over the phone. If everything really is alright you might try a bath or shower. Being in the water tends to relieve the pain.

I think its just from your uterus and ligament stretching. If your doctor isn't concern then I wouldn't worry about it. When I get cramping I usually drink room temperature water (alot of it) and lay down and relax maybe even take a lil cat nap..and it goes away. As long as you're not bleeding or spotting then you should be fine.

I face this problem with my wife when she was pregnant to birth our second child. There are two big reasons of cramping.
1. Lack of Calcium in your body
2. Lack of vitamin D in your body

When a baby growing up in fourth month Its demand for folic acid rise at high point. So if u r using some extra medicine for calcium it should consist of Folic Acid.
If u r already using Calcium but cramps are still there than u should have to use Vitamin D to consume the extra calcium to ur body, its not possible to consume calcium without folic acid.

Try to keep away from your husband untill child birth it will be very useful for u .
thnx.

I'm going to tell you to TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS. My doctor kept telling me everything was ok, and I was pregnant with twins (I was about 5 months along). Cramping during your pregnancy is a sign. If he won't check you out, go to the ER. You don't need his permission to get treated there. It could just be something you're eating, but don't take the chance. Get checked out. Best wishes.

I had really bad low cramps with my second, they felt like menstrual cramps but I was told that my round ligaments were stretching to make room for the baby as I got bigger.
