Who was the dead person in the coffin? Any speculations?

I believe it was Rose because her cancer would likely come back after getting off the island and the funeral home was in a black neighborhood

It might be michael. It says the body was found in a loft in NY I think. They scrunched the paper so we can only see bits of it. But what was Michael's last name. It also looks like a J and and O in the name part when they identify the body in the article. And was Michael that small. That is a small coffin.

It's someone who was from the island, but who Jack wouldn't consider a friend and who wouldn't have friends in the outside world who would come to the funeral. So maybe Locke? Or Ben? I wonder if the majority of next season will be off the island or if they will get back to the island right away.
I'm sad that they killed Charlie, too. Poor Charlie.

I also think it was Locke, but when the funeral director asked "friend or family" it sounded like Jack said either and not neither. I had to rewind it about 5 times to make sure. At first I thought it was Ben, but why would Jack try to kill himself if Ben died? I look at John and Jack's whole connection with pressing the button and their struggle between what was fate and what was chance on the island as one of the reasons Jack would kill himself and the fact that he would want to go back there.

Noone we know. The coffin is too short to be any adult we've met on the island and is too short for Walt too.
We have yet to meet this person.

I think it is Locke.

Locke begged Jack not to answer the phone, and said they should not leave the island. When Jack is talking to Kate at the end of the episode, He says they need to go back, they should not have left the island. (Like he's upset, because he blames himself for Lockes death)

i think it might be sawer or ben. and the next season cant be most in the real life because it is supossed to end in 2009 or 2010

Sawyer...but more importantly why the **** did they kill Charlie!!??? I hate them. I'll still watch the show of course, but I'm sad. :(
