Try going in summer season. The average temperature ranges between 8c to 25c degrees. Secondly most of the Leh and Ladakh areas are out of bounds for almost 6 months in winter season. The average height of topography is 3000+mtrs which does not augur well for travellers in winter season.
Wish you happy days there.

The best time to travel Ladakh is Mid-June (15th onwards). This is the time when rohtang pass is open to traffic. The snow would have just melted and the view would be amazing. Moreover, the peak season is just about to begin and so your expenses will also be less. However the tourist season is till september.
Be sure to go by road as u need to acclimatize a lot at higher altitudes.

1. Early July 2. check the leh's official website - its pretty descent. 3. we went there on our own - best way to spent quality time on your own. However if you are capable and strong ie. 4. high altitude - acclimatize and take proper medicines. proper clothings, shoewares and a good knowledge of the place. 5. how many of you are going? we were 4, 12 days, rs. 30,000 give and take 3000/ ex-delhi. we travelled a lot though and main cost was on our car. we stayed in tents in some places......a little costly but wonderful expr. you can sleep at local homes.....pretty cheap also.....
