So lets say there are two guys, Peter and Paul.
Both are stark naked, and we maybe dont want to know why.
Peter has piercings, a belly ring and an earring.
Paul is as untouched as the day he was born.
Suddenly two twin bolts of lighting fly from the heavens and strike each, rather startled lad, smack on the noggin!
What I want to know is, if the lightning doesnt kill them both instantly, will Peter sustain more injuries from having the jewelry in him (the extra bits of metal), or is that not a factor?
This thing's been bugging me for ages!!

Surgical metal will retain far more heat than 'naked' flesh. Ergo "Peter" will sustain a more debilitating injury, and far worse burns.
I too have body piercings, so I was interested to find out the answer.

No peter would not sustain more injuries. if they both survive the lightening bolts they must be equally lucky and equally unlucky to struck by lightening. pieces of metal ornaments could cause more energy attraction from lightenings but it would do the same damage to a person not having any metal on.

Hi Bluedrag, You would think Peter would get bite from the lightning more than Paul. The piercings would at-track the lightning more to himself. Why they did not die is because it just wasn't their time to go,and a low voltage. There has been a few people who has been strike by lightning and lived. They may of got ton low voltage when hit. At least it sounds good to me. LOL.

Lightning is going to take the shortest path to ground. Unless one of the pieces were to cause a change in the path to ground, maybe bypassing the heart?

Interesting thing to ponder I would imagine the metal could melt or alt east super heat and cause more damage.

He would have severe burns at the site of the jewlery because it will heat up from the electricity...plus the intrance and exit wounds of the bolt.
