Whoever you are, you missed the boat on this one. I don't even want 10 points from you. The kid is going to be a great QB in the league for a long time to come... if anything, Brady Quinn is the one who might want to invest in a sports bar. Russell had great stats at LSU... he is much more than a one hit wonder.

As a Baton Rouge native, I saw a lot of JaMarcus Russell while he was at LSU. This kid is the real deal. I saw as a freshman that he had a stronger arm than most of the QB's that play on Sunday. Is a strong arm enough to make it? Hell no, just ask Jeff George. But he's more than just a strong arm. He's 6'6", 260 lbs and has great mobility for a man that size. He makes precise passes and he had some insane stats playing in a run first offense. The Notre Dame game was the game he proved he was better than Brady Queer. He was a top i The Raiders are gonna have the offense wide open for him. He's gonna have some growing pains this year because they have no line, but they'll get him some help. This is the guy that can make the Raiders relevant again in the NFL and not just another bye week. To answer your question, Cows will give beer, pigs will fly and George W. Bush will record a rap album with Jay-Z before the Raiders will regret drafting JaMarcus Russell, find a quarter and buy a clue.

All first round QB's are gambles, because no body knows how well they will perform with the pressure and new tempo of the NHL, but JaMarcus is the real deal. As a Raiders fan, my only concern is his accuracy and determination. He can scramble, throw 80 yards, and lead the team. Whoever said he is going to get hurt after 1 year is wrong, because most QB's are whimpy and get laid out every time they are hit. JaMarcus will be pushing linebackers off him considering he is the size of many linemen but much quicker than them. Hopefully the Raiders can surround him with talent in the next few years so he can develop into a stellar QB.

I don't agree, I think he will definately last longer than three years. The Raiders were afwul on offense last year but if they can improve their line, they can be a decent team.
They have got two pretty good RB's, they have got good receivers and they have got their QB of the future in Russell.
While new QB's will always be a gamble, I think Russel will be in the NFL for a long time to come.

I give him three years. After scrambling out of the pocket cuz the Raiders o-line sucks, he's gonna blow out his knee and be the next Daunte Culpepper. Besides the fact that he's overrated. Vick has a cannon for an arm and look how well he's doing.

They'll probably regret drafting him after this season, when he gets sacked like crazy and gets hurt. Then maybe it'll sink in that without at least a halfway decent team to provide support, it doesn't matter if they have Superman at QB.

About 20-25 years. Russell is only good for about 15 years.
Russell is the real deal. Big, strong-armed, fast enough for a QB. His upside is huge.
