I've noticed my hair coming out more and more from the root.....I don't know whats the problem......I've done deep conditionings but nothing seems to help! could it be a side effect of the epidural? if so, when will it stop? what is going on? my hair is thick but it's going to be soon in a couple of months if it doesn't stop FALLING OUT!!!

it's totally normal. all those crazy pregnancy hormones that made your hair nice and thick are starting to leave your body. and now that your hormones are returning to normal, your hair is starting to shed normally.

if you start noticing bald spots though, call your doctor. that's not normal.

Actually your hair is probably shedding because you are no longer taking the pre-natal vitamins. These vitamins increase the growth of the hair and nails. It makes your hair really thick.

Continue to deep condition the hair and avoid using heat items (blow dryer, hair curlers). Allow your hair to air dry or sit under the hooded dryer. Also, be sure to use a good moiturizer on the hair and scalp to avoid brittleness.

I went through the same thing after having my baby. After about 5 months my hair was back to normal.

If you are not breastfeeding the baby--there is a viatimin called Biotin that can also be used for healthy hair. Be sure to drink plenty of water.

I had the same thing. Don't worry it wont thin out too much. I feel like I feel a slight difference but not a big difference. My hair being all over my pillow and bathroom stopped when my daughter was about 6 months old. My hair was so thick and healthy when I was pregnant though. So I think maybe it was as if I had gorwn extra hair during pregnancy and then was shedding it afterwards!

Are you breastfeeding?

I lost some hair with my last baby (in the front area where men's hair recedes) After a bunch had fallen out, it all started coming back...so now I have a bunch of short hairs in the front!

I never knew what happened, but one girl in my MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group mentioned that she lost a lot of hair while breastfeeding. Then a few more moms said the same thing happened to them. How weird!! I hadn't made the connection, but it does make sense. Your body's making all kinds of hormones and your nutrition is being depleted while breastfeeding.

Now I have another 3month old, so hopefully I don't go bald this time!

It has nothing to do with the epidural but everything to do with childbirth. The extra hormones during your pregnancy meant that you didn't lose the normal amounts as before, so now your hair is making up for lost time. Relax, it'll stop falling out soon!

hi, this is just pretty normal for post partums, i'm 6 months post partum (normal delivery) now and i had falling hair issues starting around when my baby's age is 4 1/2 months. until now my hair still gets falling and this is due to some hormonal imbalances but don't you worry, all will be going back to normal. all what i made is i'm not shampooing my hair a lot and only applied conditioners from half till the end of my hair, not on the scalp. well, good luck to you and your family, God bless!

It's completely normal. While you are pregnant the cycle of hair growth and loss is halted. Once you deliver and your body normalizes again you will start losing your hair in what seems to be large amounts. If you are concerned talk to your doctor or a beautician, they actually know a lot about hair growth during and after pregnancy.

Stress from the new baby could be a contributor. When I'm stressed and my hair is falling out eating walnuts helps. They are a good source of omega-3 and protein. Also taking a multivitamin.

i just had a baby in march. My hair grew and grew while i was pregnant. Not long after I had my baby my hair began to break also. I read in the book that was given to me by my doctor's office that sometimes your hair will begin to shed. It is normal and it won't last long. Try taking vitamins, it helps out . Do not worry. It will get better. My hair didn't shed long, but it did shed.

My hair did the same thing after I had my son. I think it was from where when you are preg your hair thickens and it grows so much that after having the baby it just thins itself back out. Or could be from stress. Motherhood is a stressful time and lack of sleep. That could be a very possible factor.
