Well, let's see what we have here:
A girl with two eyebrows knitted together and so angry that she's started the count down for another war.
About your question.
Listen sweetheart, Iran has a crazy president who wants to change the map of the world by clearing Israil off the map.
Did you know that Israeil and Iran were so so so close about 30 years ago?
So basically as a person who has gone to Iran, I believe Iranian people are not bad. They are only being controlled by a selfish and crazy government.
Now let's see what does Iran have.
Iranian navy will be completely eliminated in about 30 minutes after the war starts.
But what about the airforce?
Their airforce is the strongest in the region and they also have very high security.
Did you know that there has only been 3 hijack cases in the past 25 years in Iran?
And did you know that Iran is the only country in the world(apart from the US) that has F14 fighters?
F14 is a fierce weapon. It can lock on 6 targets at a time and is even stronger than F15, F16 and F18.The only thing US got against their F14s are the F22s.
But they are mass producing a new fighter of their own wich is slightly weaker than US F22s. So in air combat US is not going to win over them easily if at all.
Forget about the land cause on land US has no chance in front of them.their army consists of 20 million soldiers. Even if each carries a small pistol, western soldier's won't survive.
When I went to Iran to visit Pasargad and Perspolice and some other really nice places, I noticed that Iranians don't like their government but they are ready to die for their lands. So they have lots of Japanese kamikazee style suicidal bombers who will volenteerly die to attack the intruders.
Now let's go to their weaponary.
They are mass producing their own missiles named SHAHAB3 which can carry both normal and nuclear warhead and their combat range is long enough to reach Israeil(arnd 2000 miles). SHAHAB3 normal warhead has 2000 lbs of explosives so even the normal warhead is bad enough.
They have distributed their nuclear warehouses in 300 different locations in theis country so no attack against the nuclear producing plants will clear them off. some of these plants are more than 100 ft deep under the ground. so even a nuclear attack can not destroy it.
As you see they have learnt from our war against Afghanistan and Iraq and have come up with this strategy.
Don't be so scared. They are still weaker than US. But the issue is how much money is GWB willing to put on that war. and would it be worth? would it worth the price of oil skyrocket in the world?
What ever happens,I just hope my country doesn't enter the war against iran directly. I hated my fellow country men go MIA in Iraq.
In case of any war with Iran, what we need to store is not just food,it is gas for our cars.

Yes, I could see that happening. Once we cut and run, they will believe they can get whatever they want from us and push us so far that even a Libertarian President would ask Congress for a war declaration.

As a retired Air Force officer, I have to add this for "The one ---": The assessment on the F14 is essentially correct. The Navy insisted on some things that were essential to carrier fighters that the Air Force didn't want in the similar F15. The F16s main reason for existing is that it is relatively cheap so lots could be acquired. The FA18 is an all purpose plane to replace the A6, A7, and F14 so is not as capable a fighter aircraft as the F14. One glaring problem was omitted, however. The Iranians cannot fly their F14 in a significant manner because they have limited spare parts. They can only fly through cannibalization. That leaves them with second rate air frames designed by the Soviet Union.

I just answered one of these questions earlier, here is a copy of what I said. One of the posters mentioned war will begin when the Arabs get a bomb and use it on Israel? There are not many Arabs in Iran, they are mainly Persians along with many other ethnic groups. Also OP Hezbollah poses absolutely no threat to any country besides Israel although you like to claim they and the rest of Lebanon, pose a threat to Europe. Which is a joke only bought by Christian Zionist Americans being brainwashed by AIPAC propaganda. Well I will keep this brief and to the point. The US consumes 25% of the world's oil, 40% of the world's production passes through the Straight of Hormuz. Iran was the world's 4th largest crude producer last time I checked. Iran can shut down the Straight for at least some time and plague it with terrorism for years to come and destabilize Iraq, especially considering they will be very close with the forming Shiite government (still being disputed). They also would be able to attack Saudi and Kuwaiti installations although I personally do not think they will attack these, unless Saudi Arabia allows Israel to use its airspace for the attack, which despite what propaganda says they will not. So lets say the Iranians could probably shut down about 50% of the world's crude oil supply. With the US on the brink of economic collapse, I absolutely cannot believe this is what the American people want. I am not saying Iran will defeat the US military. I am not insane. What they will do, after the Marines are forced to occupy parts of Iran to keep the flow of oil going, is fight asymmetrical warfare, the Revolutionary Guard along with millions of militia that will form along with the already existing Basij will attack US forces anywhere they can using a very large insurgency. They will also recruit Muslims from other countries to join their efforts. The US will not have to have a large military presence in Iran, more than 100,000 US combat forces are fighting wars on both sides of Iran's borders, very much within Iran's ability to attack. You are talking about thousands of US forces dead in Afghanistan and Iraq alone. So, now that we have had a brief dose of sanity, when will Israel and/or the US attack? Here is the process. 1) Vilify your enemy 2) Exaggerate a threat 3) Fake a diplomatic effort/resolution 4) Establish a precedent We are currently at stage four, meaning absolutely anything can start war. Luckily, Barack Obama won the election. If John McCain had won (you know the guy singing about bombing Iran) we would already be at war. So when will we have war? If Israel goes alone, which they will be alone temporarily only, it will be by the end of this year. Their window of opportunity is closing. I would guess they would initiate an attack by the end of August, or then wait until October before the elections. If the US is to initiate war, it will be when Obama is out of office. At least this is what I am hoping, and what I truly believe. That is that Obama still believes the Jews do not have a God given right to Palestine and that he is sane and not wanting to plunge the world into darkness. You probably do not like my answer as it seems you are just dying to drop bombs and kill millions of people and potentially plunge the world into a further depression, but this is the best answer you are going to get. Did I mention Iran is able to gather paramilitary forces that range in the millions upon millions?

No, with Iraq the way it is, going to war with Iran will further destabilize the region. Imagine all other fellow Shiites (Hezbollah, Hamas...and more)in the region rising against the US. It's going to be huge disaster if we do strike Iran. Iraq is Shiite dominant gov now. What would they do? Iraq have been trying to keeping good relation with Iran while keeping good relation with the US. Which kind of sounds impossible, but this is what they're doing. And Iran war will probably make things worse in Iraq or even reverse any progress(on secretarian conflict) made in Iraq.

We can't possibly even think about going to Iran if Iraq stays at where it is now. Iraq has to be solved before we take any other military actions in the region.

we can't finnish in Iraq, whatever that means, who would even think about Iran. I might stay out of major cities, but we'll have ample warning should the world form some coalition against us and actually invade. That would take a long time and need a continued conquest not just one every 10 years. 3 or 4 countries blitzgrieged in rapid succession may provoke this coalition. But i think us imperialism is smarter than that. It's why they do move slow and only take colonies in 20 year intervals. it doesn't raise the warning flags.

We're going to war with everyone else over there why not them too right? You shoud always have food and water set aside anyway because you never know what could happen but at the moment I don't think you'd need to put a bunch extra.

Let's see....

US bombers take out Iran's military and nuclear facilities in aerial bombing campaign.

Negative:

- US airmen killed, or captured
- Iran retaliation includes targetting US companies/citizens at home and worldwide via terrorism
- US need more troops in Iraq
- US need more money to fund longterm involvement
- Russia, China supply weaponry to Iran
- world condemnation

Positive:

- Setting back Iran's military infrastructure / nuclear program
- Israel would be happier

Nope, the cons far outweigh the pros - it's a no-go! Don't need to stock-up!

Maybe. But any war will not directly affect life in the US; Iran has no weapons delivery capability.
