Have you ever noticed that it is fimed in such a way that you as the viewer could actually be a third person at the table?

I've seen "My Dinner With Andre" three times so far, and although opinion seems to be divided on whether it's a brilliant film or an incredibly boring waste of time, I find it very entertaining, as well as fascinating---the concept of filming a drama about two old friends having a long, soul-searching conversation over a late dinner is a neat idea, and what saves the film from being a mind-numbing experience is that both Andre and Shawn are spellbinding conversationalists with completely different views on life and its meaning--Andre has searched all over for understanding, through a variety of experiences, Shawn has accepted life very much as he has found it--the two complement each other, and the script provides an intimate arena for the exchange of their ideas and viewpoints.
For viewers who aren't afraid of conversation as a means of communication, it's a fine piece of work.

Yes, and I really love it. Email me if you'd like to discuss it.
