G. Gordon Liddy this AM went on and on about how ethenol production exists only because of 'subsidies'. He didn't mention all of the direct and indirect subsidies to the Oil Mafia, such as this war in the middle east. Ethenol, he said uses almost as much energy to produce as it creats. But so does oil when you figure in all of the productions and distribution steps. What's up with these guys?

being you are a lib it is doubtfull you will try and understand this.

we use 1/3 of our corn production for ethenol. the shortfall of corn raises feed prices for farmers and we pay more for meat. the amount of oil it takes to harvest, transport, distill and distribute the ethenol is about the same as it returns.

ok. lets forget all that for a moment. lets think about the vast amount of water it is going to take from the rivers and add to that the millions of tons of pesticides and fertilizers we will be putting in the ground water.

it's just another lib idea that doesn't work.

Well, the only suggestion I have is that from what I have heard about ethenol is that we will never be able to farm enough corn to be able to supply the amount of fuel needed to completely replace gasoline. But as far as right wings bashing ethenol production/use it's because they bleed oil :P

Making Ethanol will just drive the price of anything made with corn.Sorry , but I want to afford to eat. The war is not about oil. Where you people that cry about this war get that I have no idea.
And out of a barrel of oil you get more that just gasoline. Gasoline is the by product of what is left AFTER you get things like Oil, grease, diesel fuel, kerosene, thinners, etc.
Btw, without oil you have no plastics either so you would have to
live without your PC or cell phone.

er... big oil loses money if everyone switches to ethanol... follow the money...

and we couldn't just grow more corn... could we?

is a Republican talking about environmental issues above me? HAHAHHA... going to tell me to go drill for oil in Alaska next?

Republicans are jokes... this shows most when they start saying "I doubt libs could understand this"... this means that what they are about to say doesn't make any real sense, but if they say that, it makes it seem like "poor liberals are to simple to understand our complex ideas"...

sad thing is... about 10 percent of the population buys it...
