I reckon that they should both play in the playing 11 as they both deserve to. Dropping Ganguly might not be a bad idea.
thanks.

It will be a gample to include V.V.S.Laxman in place of Jaffer as Laxman is not an opener and there is no other opener in the team. If Jaffer is dropped, either Ganguly or Dravid has to open the innings. The best option according to me is to play only 4 specialised bowler and use Sachin and Ganguly as 5th bowler, so that Laxman can be included in the playing 11 and batting can be strengthened

It seems that the selectors are looking for the future than the present matches. Laxaman is a world class batsman but his age and his fielding is not in his favor. I think india should concentrate on some new blood and spend all the resources to train and nurture them. This means that Sachin, Ganguli, Dravid, Kumble, Sehwag, Laxman should retire and let the new comers get a chance to serve their country.

No doubt Laxman certainly deserves to be in the team,He is been the best performer in the team on what grounds have they dropped Laxman.
This clearly indicates that there are divisions with in the team.Laxman has to be in the team,Drop the passengers in the team and learn way of Aussies.
