Madness is too vague a word, and is not technical or medical. Depression is a medical term and should be taken seriously. No one can say "Snap out of it," because people rarely can.
If your depression comes and goes it is one kind - if it's always there, it's another kind. You need advice and help. Only a professioanl person can help you. It does not have to be a doctor - someone to talk to, such as a counsellor or a therapist, can sometimes help a lot.
What you believe in only helps sometimes - belief can be quite strong, but practical outcomes come from practical solutions. Go and see someone kind who can help you out of your situation.
Good luck.

I believe in the only God.. The father of Jesus.
I also believe that depression is an illness and there are medications that will help it. Give the medications a try and also go into therapy. There are many different types of medications for depression. You may have to try different ones (under a doctor's care of course) to find which works for you.
Also exercise.. MAKE yourself get out and take a walk or go for a bike ride, etc. It helps. I know you may not feel like it.. but it's helps fight depression.
Depression is a illness so aggressively treat it like you would any other illness. Together.. you and God will work it out.

If you're wanting to do it on your own without help, pick up the book "Feeling Good", by David Burns.
Check your dogma at the door, and start reading. (The treatment is not "anti-religious", but if you keep waiting for a miracle to be dropped at your feet, it can hold up your healing a LOT......)
If you'll actually go through the motions described in the book, even if you don't "believe" in them, you will see some results. Probably faster than you can imagine.
There is a light at the end of your tunnel, and it's not a train....
Good luck.
p.s. YOU'RE NOT MAD!!!
Depression is normal. Happens to all of us at some time, to some degree. Recognize that therapy is the maintenance that any complicated machine needs, and get out the d@mn tools!!

My cousin was diagnosed as Bi-polar as a teenager and told by doctors that she would eventually end up in the asylum.
When I saw her at age 28, she had the saddest face I ever saw. I took her to my church which believed in deliverance and healing to be prayed for. The immediate change was her face. She had a beautiful smile and she was happy. She started listening to Christian music, going to Church and praying herself. Her right hand was damaged from a drug overdose and she went to be prayed for and in two weeks the hand was normal and she could write again. Later she went to secretarial school and graduated. She bought a three-apartment townhouse and was self-sufficient. She is
almost 40, off all drugs, but one, I think and doing great. She
also is reconciled with her family. I offer her story as an example that nothing is impossible with God. Remember this also, condemnation is from the devil, conviction is from God. If you feel condemned and no good, etc. that is the devil so don't listen . Remember how much God loves you.
So keep on believing and look up. You will find a lot of comfort in the Psalms also as David went through a lot of the same troubles that we do. God Bless you.

I need that same secret. I feel that I will never be okay, not all the time at least. This life is only for surviving. Possibly we will find some truth, but not today. Good luck with the whole god thing, he doesn't live here anymore.

The possibilities are quite good, though pill doctors want to give you medicine. (its all they know)
There IS one requirement only. Sufficiently desperate, one must be willing to go to ANY lengths.
Though you may not be alcoholic, download a free copy of Alcoholics Anonymous. It has helped many recover from a seemingly helpless state of mind and body.
Good Luck.

not the exact words but sth. like: you are not fully sane...until you are enlightened. [from the book Dalai Lama in M.I.T] so don't worry too much about mentally recovering. it's not as if "normal" persons are more sane than you are. we all to some extent are mentally insane in one way or another. hope it helps...
