I ask myself the same thing day after day. Seeing all the terrible things that happen in the world: wars, global warming, crime, diseases, natural disasters, tragedies and adding our personal problems to the equation makes it worse. But it is proved that the human being can survive imaginable calamities, just because we love life so much. And as long as we had a small piece of love for life hope will always be there. The hope that comes from loving life is the strongest one of all. Keeping your loved ones and friends beside you, cherishing them will make you see the beauty in this sometimes chaotic world. This comes from a person who struggles evreyday with the same feelings, ut manages to salvag something good and beautiful from each day, even if that something is as small as a flower or the smile of a child.

You need to find the things that are good. They are out there, believe me, focus on those. Also create good. You can do that by helping others, being mindful of your own dealings in the world and acting as an example. Did you ever see the movie "Pay it Forward"? Same principle. You never know how your kindness will help someones life.

The world is full of sorrow and trouble and it will never be any different until Jesus comes back. I gave Him my heart and life 37 years ago and found Him to be the best friend I have ever had. He has brought me through all the bad times and helped me enjoy the good times more fully. The Bible is the best handbook I know for living well.

Start a walking program. I am walking 6 miles per day and I am on my 13th week of rehab for a crushed arm. It allows me to avoid the negatives of my situation. The ability to heal my arm has been enhanced from the improved circulation. I still can't feel all of my fingers and my strength is still very poor but my attitude is very good. I am a very active person to begin with, it works....

I try to focus on the few positive things there are. It's not quantity- it's quality. There may not be many things to look forward to, but the things that are, even the simple little things, are enough, because they are so incredibly wonderful.

Know that there's still always some good in the world. And don't make it a comparison of more bad or good. There is always goodness and happiness in the world, and I know that keeps me sane.

It appears to be a mad parade of fools, and the idiot is always king. I take the world with a grain of salt, and wear it as a loose garment.

Sadly, I have to admit I get pessimistic far too often. But I stop myself by realizing that it's a choice to use my energy for anger or frustration.
