It could be any year. Now that the Big 12 North is not completely dominated like it was in the 90's and early 2000's by teams like Colorado and Nebraska, it's a pretty much up for grab division. If Iowa State can sneak in a few big wins against Big 12 opponents and go to the Big 12 Championship game and pull off an upset over Texas or Oklahoma, well then they are in a BCS bowl.

Except for the 2000 season, they've kind of been trying to get over the hump for about 100 years. They've never been a consistent winner; one would hope that Gene Chizik can turn that around, especially in the much weaker half of the Big XII.

Its going to be awhile with programs like Nebraska on the rise.......I think they will compete for the top spot in the conference but Nebraska is far more ahead in recruiting and theres not much of a chance for that conference to compete in the conference championship against programs like texas oklahoma ect

When they can consistently beat their instate rival, Iowa Hawkeyes, their confidence will soar.
