"I want to go to the movie / movies tonight" is used when the movie in question has already been referred to.

"I want to go to a movie tonight" is used when the movie is referred to for the first time.

So, all the three sentences are grammatically correct, depending on the usage.

The second one is probably most correct, but since the place you are going is usually showing MANY movies, the first one is probably OK too.

If its just the open statment i would go with "I want to go to a movie tonight" if its in a conversation and a title has been named already then I would go with "I want to go to the movie tonight"

The Second one is right. if you are talking about the movie for the first time.

If you've been talking about 'a movie' , the First Sentence is right.
