Well it sounds like you might you astma of some sort. You should really encourage your friends and family not smoke around you. If you lungs were tender and you had a cough and now you have pains and such you may have developed pneumonia and should probably return to the doctor and find out just exactly what is going on.

It could be asthma - hence the "puffer" the doc gave you. The problem with this is that it's very, very hard to diagnose.

Try to limit the amount of time you spend in closed rooms with smokers, and start taking a look at anything else (other than sports) that has changed in your environment. Allergies can seem a whole heck of a lot like asthma and can be set off even if you've never experienced allergies before. Also remember that when you suddenly become much more physically active than you were before, it puts a temporary stress on your body that lowers immunity. Basically, it makes it easier for you to feel ill for a while. That will go away.

If it keeps up, or you feel like you're getting light-headed when you are active (especially if you feel like you've got something in your throat that makes it hard to breathe) see the doctor again. They can run you on a machine and monitor your lungs while you do - essentially trying to "cause" an asthma attack.

Other than that, make sure you're getting your vitamins and sleep and best of luck on feeling better!

There is a type of asthma brought on only by physical exertion. My friends daughter has this and the doctors prescribed a "puffer" to be used only before physical exertion.
Cigarette smoke will definitely make this worse so avoid it as best you can- maybe ask the people in your life to not smoke near you or in the house?
These are only suggestions and you really need to go back to the doctor and describe your symptoms. Best of luck.

It could be a number of things ... Asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, or just a virus of some sort ... I would go back to the doctors to see what he says.

See your Dr. right away. If he/she doesn't give you answers, get another Dr. Don't mess around with this. You have to be able to breath!
