Came up with the Red Sox, killed some time with the Yankees, finished his playing career (briefly) with the Braves, and later coached for the Dodgers for part of one season. Never a Cub though.

Nope. You may think that he was a Cub because he hit his famous "called shot" in Wrigley Field during the World Series. He played for the Red Sox and Yankees, as others have said.

He was almost on the White Sox. If the Black Sox scandal hadn't have happened, then the Red Sox would have traded him to the Sox for "Shoeless" Joe Jackson instead of selling him off to the Yankees.

EVERYONE IS WRONG
He was a little boy whose father was a dirty man who was always drunk. So he went to St. Marys School until he was 21 when Father Matthew introduced him to a scout for the Baltimore Orials. Back then the Orials were a minor league team. He was traded to the New York Yankees in 1927 for 25 million dollars. Then he set a curse on the Boston Red Sox and the Red Sox didn't win a World Series for 86 years. Then at the end of his career he went to the Boson Braves for 3 years. He then went back to New York and coached the Brooklyn Dodgers. You may have the thought he was on the Cubs because the Cubs have not won a World Series since 1908 (99 years) and a penate since 1945.
Hope I helped

He started off as a pitcher for the red sox, then they traded him to the yankees, where he wore the pin stripes most of us remember him in.
