I can see how you're feeling, but "starting over" is not the way to go. Instead of feeling hopeless, do something about it. work on improving your life and circumstances. When you accomplish something to improve your life, you may feel much more optimistic. Things aren't working? Keep trying. Things are bound to get much better when you work at it.

I'm not that depressed since I have learned to adjust to my situation over the last year and a half, but my life is truly on hold since I am taking care of my mother, who is the early middle stage of Alzheimer's.

After selling my house last April, I have moved in with her because she truly needs some one to look out for her safety, pay her bills, and to drive her to the doctor, to church, and to the grocery store. During the past school year, I have worked as a substitute teacher during the day, and I'm a former college English professor; the rest of my time has been spent attending to my mother's needs. Nothing changes, for example, she demands that I drive the same route to the store, serve her dinner exactly at five (about the time I come in from work), and make sure her coffee fills exactly the same cup every day!
