The newspaper article that Jack was carrying around said "Man died", so it's not Juliette. Check out this site for some theories:

My best guess is Ben, which would explain why no one was there (no one knew him on the mainland, and no one liked him much on the island), and also why Kate wouldn't have been there. I think the reason Jack was crying over it was because maybe he felt that if anyone, Ben would be the person who would know how to get back to the island. If he's dead, than that chance would be blown for Jack, thus making him upset.

I definitely think it was Juliette. Kate said "Why would I go to the funeral?". We know Kate doesn't like Juliette. Also, Juliette had no family, her sister probably ended up dying from cancer. Also, Jack cried over the death. He would only cry for Juliette (or Kate).
**I think the funeral home was just in a not-so-great part of town or something. Doesn't necessarily mean it was someone black. If no one came to the funeral, no one paid for it. **Also, why would Jack cry over Ben? I'm sure he'll kill Ben when they get rescued.

Oooh....never thought of it as beeing Locke. Guess I was assuming it might be Sawyer. To me, that would be the only reason Jack would go there looking for Kate.

I'm guessing Michael. The funeral home was in an African-American neighborhood. Also, if the castaways ever find out what Michael did to Libby and Ana-Lucia - as well as leaving abruptly and betraying them all - then they'd be mad enough not to go to Michael's funeral.

I thought it was Ben if that flash forward happened further down the line and he ended up committing suicide or something.

its deffinatly got to be BEN! there is so still much to come though it kinda is hard to guess, hopefully when the episode goes up tomorrow, you will be able to pause it and read that newspaper clipping!

i think it was Micheal.....that would explain jack saying that he wasn't a friend nor family and the wake was held in a black community so it makes sense.....
