Silver is the only jewelry I wear, and I keep it clean using a small dab of toothpaste.
Just rinse your silver piece in warm water -- not hot -- and dab just enough toothpaste to cover the piece with a paste. Opaque pastes work best, but I've also tried gels which require a bit more effort but in the end, also remove tarnish.
Use a Q-Tip to access the crevices if any, rub the paste gently around the piece, then rinse in tepid water and dry.
Viola! You'll have tarnish-free shinny silver with a faint aroma of mint or whatever flavor toothpaste you use.
Best --
Scarlett
P.S. Don't use abrasives such as baking soda, even when diluted with water. The particles are too course and will scratch your silver.

Get some baking powder, half a lemon and an old tooth brush, rub the brush on the lemon and then in the baking powder and then use it the silver you want to clean, after this rinse it with cold water and dry and don't worry about getting tarnished again for a while ;)

You can use toothpaste. Make sure it is paste and not gel. It works great. Just rinse with clean water after rubbing the toothpaste on and it will come clean. I have used this on my silver jewelry.
