Well, keep in mind that most people seem to think this is good... up until it affects them personally. We have become a nation of panzies that expect to live risk free lives and have no obligation of personal responsibility.
Now then, many states have passed "right to carry" legislation in the past several years. What this does is codify the natural right insured by the Constitution's 2nd ammendment. It is the right that all others stand upon. I've taken advantage of this, and accepted personal responsibility for my safety and security to the best of my abilities.
So, the answer is both yes and no. State lawmakers will do what gets them votes, and this varies by state. Thank God for the federal system.
By the way, it is too bad most of you have no knowledge of our history. Both Lincoln and Wilson, with the support of congress, in the Civil War and WWI respectively, went much further than W has dreamed of in restricting the rights of American citizens.

Our civil rights in America sometimes conflict with the best interests of the country; and that's a real problem.
Americans, who happen to acquire Confidential to Secret information,of our country plans do not have the right to blab that info to the world,..I believe that would even include "News-folks and their "can't disclose an informant" baloney.
We have enough of a problem trying to keep our country free without having to cope with those who think they should be treated at a higher level, with the privilege of blabbing about anything.
During war-time, our citizens should be required to operate with less of their "so-called freedoms"
As Spock said, "The good of the many over-shadows the good of the few,..or the one"

you want a list of rights we've lost, how about The 4th amendment for starters. read the patriot act, the military commissions act and how about Bush reinstating the emergency presidential powers and claiming he could rule with dictorial powers. as far as states go I think they are doing a good job. many cities and counties have passed legislation to get rid of parts of the patriot act that are unconstitutional and many states have passed resolutions to not go along with that bullshit American Union.
If you really want to safeguard you liberties and have real security, in your person and in your money then vote for RON PAUL.

Of course. All in the name of our safety and our childrens safety. That is a double edged sword question. We lose freedoms every day. They just change the law to accomidate their mood. However if we vote in a Dummycrat, you will not be able to ask these questions online and we might as well all wrap sheets around our heads and pray to Alah! They are willing to give our country away for the sake of being politically correct.
