In our society which is obsessed with unhealthy body image bordering on anorexia "Fat" is a term which has a ridiculous and unrealistic meaning.
If people don't fit the magazine or Hollywood body image they are considered "Fat" and unintelligent and lazy and just plain unattractive. Wake up people!

Overweight people are shown no respect in America..
If you're overweight you're paid less ,treated worse and looked at like you're a mutant.
Though to be fair Americans have no respect for anyone ..they just have less for obese people.

It's true. Overweight people have always been looked down upon. Most people judge others by their looks instead of the character that person might have.

i don't think it's rational to respect only the ideal-weight people. for me, i respect people whatever size they have, big or small, fat or thin, short or tall, black or white, rich or poor, normal or abnormal, beautiful or ugly...if you were fat, whould you feel happy not being respected?? always look at the good sides of a person then...

Fat people are looked down upon because well they are Fat, ive seen this first hand, i use to work at a electronic store 2 years ago when i was 17 and we had a Overweight guy working a sale, as soon as he walked off to talk to the Mgr about the price i heard the couple talking about how fat the guy was and walked out and left.

Fat people are looked upon as not having intelligence because they dont have enough inteligence to stop eating . This of course is nothing but nonsense in my opinion and I find it sad people still think this way .

maybe true because these people may be obese and their "look" is not so inviting as to an ideal weight person, could be intimidating at times though

I'm over weight. The lame thing is, when someone doesn't agree with me, they tend to call me fat as insult.

No. Shotgun Cheney and Pigboy Limbaugh are examples why they don't.
