i'm almost 23 weeks pregnant, my ultrasound on Monday revealed that my cervix was completely covered. Anyone have any advice as to if it possible that it will move up, also i've had minor spotting throughout my pregnancy, today I had VERY little blood drops, ob said nothing to be concerned about. I was told that if the bleeding doesn't stop, they will do a c-section as soon as possible, has anyone had a c-section with there cervix like that and is it risky? I'm very worried so any thoughts would be greatly appericated, and please don't say ask your ob, I will as soon as I see her, i'm paranoid and just need advise. Thanks

Hi there, I as well had "low lying placenta" which is what they call it untill it is officially diagnosed as placenta previa. Mine actually did move, and I will try to explain why.
If you could take a ballon and blow it up half way, then draw a line at the bottom (representing your placenta at the bottom side of your uterus) and then blow the ballon up the rest of the way the line would end up "moving" up the side of the ballon. This is what happens most of the time with low lying placenta.
The spotting you are experiencing is quite normal with a low lying placenta, and there really is no need to worry, honest. You will know if there is a problem, because there will be a big change. Also keep a watch for bright red spotting, or clots, making sure to always report them to your OB.
If your placenta does not "move" and you do end up scheduled for a c-section don't panic. I am 25, and have had 3 children in 3 years and 3 months, all of them via C-section.
My first child was the one with low lying placenta. The c-section really was not complicated with the placement of the placenta, and it is really quite common. I could have also tried for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth after Ceasaeran) with my second and third child, but chose to have sections done.
So really you are lucky to be having a child today in a time with so many wonderful medical options.
Don't worry, your OB will walk you through it, mine did for me.
Good Luck, and congrats!

I had placenta previa. It can not actually be diagnosed until 28 weeks. At 23 weeks, if the placenta is covering your cervix you have a 90% chance that the uterus will pull it up and out of the way by 28 weeks, when your uterus is much bigger. Mine did not so at 28 weeks I was given the actual diagnosis. At 36 weeks I had a minor abruption, but the bleeding stopped on its own and I was monitored but did not require a C-section. The peice that abrupted was the small part I had on my cervix, so I was able to have a vaginal birth 2 weeks later, but had a really bad hemmorhage and almost lost my uterus. Take it easy, no sex at all is allowed. Watch for any bleeding, and if you do , more than a couple of drops, go straight to the ER, or call your OB ASAP. Like I said, you have a 90% chance that it will resolve in the next few weeks. I was one of the lucky ones. I work with premature babies and have had a couple that were the result of an emergency C-section due to an abruption because of placenta previa.

enable me supply you some desire! I had entire placenta previa with my final toddler. It became desperate at week 28. My OB instructed me that there became no way it would flow sufficient out of a trend to grant vaginally. whilst somebody has partial placenta previa, the percentages are extra advantageous that the placenta will flow and you're able to be able to grant vaginally. nicely, I had entire placenta previa. At week 36, yet another ultasound became achieved. My placenta had thoroughly moved out of ways and that i became in a position to grant vaginally. it truly isn't the norm and you should be arranged for a c-area, even with the undeniable fact that it may ensue. I prayed, plenty, and that i've got confidence He spoke back my prayers. i'm no longer an extremely religious guy or woman, yet i'm giving the credit to the better potential. superb of success to you!!!!!!

I had placenta previa with my last pregnancy. It was completely covered also, but it did move up and I had a vaginal birth.
I didn't have any bleeding at all during pregnancy. But spotting isn't a MAJOR concern. Your doc is worried about you bleeding HEAVILY.
When you bleed and you have placenta previa, the blood isn't fully getting through the baby. That is the reason why they deliver via a c-section.
I did have some bleeding problems during delivery, but I delivered my son just fine.
Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

i had a placenta previa with both of my kids and both time it moved up by the time of delivery. i had my first child vaginal birth and the second one was a c-section. nothing to worry about if you have a c-section. they won't even get near the cervix. don't worry, everything with be just fine.

It wont move and u HAVE to have a c section. Its less risky thana a vaginal birth. Actually ur baby would be dead if u have a vaginal bith because the placents would come out first then there is no oxygen for bubs. So really... u dont have a choice

my mom had placent previa with me , and do to lack of understand of what can happen with it she almost lost me so i would just tell you (if your doc hasnt already) to stay of your feet as much as possible, heck i would stay in bed and just get up to go to the bathroom. with the csection ( my mom also had) it will be ok just like anyother csection. its just the healing after the csection that sucks .. it hurts like he!!. but good luck !
