you have 256. you have shared video memory that's why it's reporting lower. There is no such thing as too much ramm. Max it out while its so cheap now. Call acer or use an online memoy configurator to figure out what type to get. I dont know what type you have but you can check at kingston.com

From what I know of, nearly all older sempron-based motherboards uses DDR SDRAM for their RAM. Since it is around 1.6 GHz, you may be looking for DDR-333 or DDR-400.

If you want to be safe whether it is DDR-333 or DDR-400, the best way is to call Acer, tell them the model of the PC and they should know which DDR type the PC used.

If you want to save the trouble, if you can tell me the Acer Aspire model number, I can help you to answer that question accurately.

The other way is to take out your RAM from your PC (meaning that you need to know how to dismantle your PC and assemble it back) and bring it to the nearest PC shop. Once they see the RAM, they should know which DDR type that is.

Hope that helps =)

Edit:
Acer Aspire T135 is using PC2700, so you are looking for a DDR-333.

I use www.kingston.com - you type in your PC type and model, and it tells you what type of SIMMs it takes.
