A blow hard friend at work states that he and friend used to swim 26miles during their daily work out while they were in the military, I doubt it. Is a 26 mile swim a little far for a daily swim? would anyone do it even on a good day. I say nonsense.

A competitive swimmer can swim the mile in about 20 minutes so the person above me who said it would take about 14 hours is right on.

If they had 14 hours to devote to swimming every day they then there was no way they were in the military! Maybe he meant 26 minutes or maybe he's just an @$$hole trying to be a big wig. Ask him to prove it!!!

My hardest open-water distance was a 5-mile backstroke swim. I averaged 21:00 per mile and finished in 1:47:13. I thought my arms were going to tear away from my shoulders and report me to the authorities for abuse lol... I would never do that again, the sunburn and aftermath were not worth it! My longest open-water distance was 15K (9.3 miles) of free/breast mix. That was a 3 and a half hour swim and I certainly wasn't about to jump in and do it again the next day!!!

Oh and if your friend says he'll prove it, let me know, I gotta see that!!! ( =
