Jeffery and senca are right. It is because you have the comp set to sleep, hibernate or shutdown and have rummy programs on the computer that wont behave. It is not your computers fault or windows fault. I woud either move my nouse every so often, shut down properly or alter power options in my computer. You can even create a new power profile, one for work, one for school, one for the coffeeshop.

Try holding the power button down for about 6-7 seconds. That should force shutdown of you system. Then maybe adjust your power saver settings to prevent it from happening again. Sometimes BIOS power settings clash with Windows power settings and can cause issues.

Take the battery out of the laptop for a few minutes, and then put it back in, and it should boot up like it was shut down.
