It's called a gavel. In my 13 years as an attorney, I have never seen a real judge a gavel. Very few judges ever use a gavel.

Well the last time I was in court..The judge was really pissed at me for returning for the 3rd time..he couldn't use his GAVEL because he threw it at me.. but he did hit his head on the table several times when I told him he needs to go to anger management and psycho therapy....Poor fella...
PS.. I paid the fine...I wont bother him again....

It has to be something strong like Vodka or Scotch. You have to be pretty drunk to hit on a table....
