I had my period for 3 years before I told my mother, and neither of my parents has the talk with me, I got a book for my birthday one year. Hah, it will be okay, after all if you have any questions you have us right?
If it really is bothering you that you are embarrassed, write your mom a note telling her how you feel, childish, i know, but it is easier, and you still get the point across.

I didn't tell my mom either!!!! She noticed my soiled panties and asked me. That was really embarassing! She had me sit down and talk to her and it actually went better than I had expected. Yeah, I was embarassed, but I didn't have to hide my hygiene products and eventually was able to ask questions about the things I wasn't sure of. It was a long time ago and the sanitary pads and stuff were very different- I wasn't always sure about using the right stuff.
What you are going through is normal- and she had to do it too! You are in the same "club" now, so maybe it will be a turning point for you.

The embarrasment will go. Trust me. A lot of girls feel this at first and some don't. It is sad that you are not close to your Mother. Give it time love.

You surely don't need to be embarrassed, because she has gone through the same thing!! Next time you see her, try to think of what SHE was like when she told HER mom that she had started her period!! That should lighten up your mood a little bit.

There is no reason to feel embarassed. It is natural for you to grow up and get your period. Even if you aren't close with her, you can still have a "talk." Maybe this would be a good time for you two to get closer. How about it?

Try not to worry about it. Every woman gets her period, even your mom. I used to think my period was a big deal, even my grandparents (who raised me) used to say "Make sure you keep all your "products" hidden from your brother and grandfather and don't mention it!" So I was embarrassed too.
Just don't feel weird about it. I know it doesn't make much difference, but just try to relax about it.

It's totally normal. She had it too (probably still has it). The embaressment will subside in time.
