Possibly

It shows what happens if they get rescued off the island. Could be an alternate of what may happen in whats to come.

Did Charlie seriously die? We thought Echo, Locke and Desmond died last year. Charlie could still some to his senses and swim out the hole or open the door. They may have left it like that so he can still negotioate a contract.

Can it be? If it were, wouldn't Kate be in prison? Maybe it's just Jack imagining what life would be like when they got home.

Why didn't Charlie either close the door after he went through it or at least try to swim through the hole after Desmond got the message. It's like he just gave up!

Sure seemed like it. The producers probably want viewers to think that locke was right when he said that they weren't supposed to leave the island.

Maybe that last flashback was a dream or something. Maybe locke turned off the radio tower...he was walking that way at the end.

You might be right! I was so confused throughout the whole entire episode but I do think it was a flashfront but it does not explain why he kept on mentioning his dad (telling the other doctor to "bring my father down here to see if I'm drunker than him). But I still can't figure out who's funeral Jack was referring to - he said he wasn't friend or family - was it Locke's funeral maybe?

Weird! Now I'm more confused than ever. I'll have to keep watching it next year to see what the heck is going on. It really sucks charlie died.

He is dead.

Notice the 'wtf' look on the doctors face as Jack mentions his father. and the reaction Jack had when the pharmacist wanted to verify the prescription.

I think the casket is noone we've met yet. It is too short for it to be any adult on the island. It is also too short to be Walts casket.

Charlie did not leave because Desmond's visions said Charlie had to die for Aaron and Claire to be saved.
