Yes, we have elected candidates, albeit, in local offices. Nothing yet on a major scale like president or governor. Those days are coming though. The only reason they aren’t here yet is because people don’t understand what principles are and therefore don’t understand the libertarian party.

Most people think we are nuts cases and that we want to use drugs etc. That isn’t the case. Actually I don’t think I ever met a single libertarian that uses drugs. Are principles are quite simple. We believe that people should have the freedom of choice so long as they don’t use force or fraud to achieve it. The only function of government is to handle those that use force or fraud.

Its not that we want to use drugs, we don’t, we just don’t think the government should be telling us what to do. Its not that we want sex with prostitutes, we just don’t think the government should be involved between decisions of two consenting adults. Its not that we all want cigarettes and blow smoke in everyone’s faces, we just don’t think the government should be the one dictating what our moral behaviors should be.

While I hate the idea of putting drugs or other things in my body that might harm me, I still defend that choice of others. I believe that everyone needs to be responsible for their actions...the key word is responsible. People will say drugs need to be illegal because they harm people and I say, so does alcohol but it is not illegal any longer - why should drugs be? Then they say well if people are strung out a drugs they can hurt someone and I say then they should be held accountable for that pain - its their action hold them responsible. Making it illegal doesn’t stop the usage only increase the danger, causing an underground market, gang wars etc...if it was not illegal all these societal dangers would disappear and society would be a much safer place to live.

The difference between the Dem and Rep compared to the Libertarian is simple. Both the Dem and rep want to govern (control) what you do, while the Libertarian wants you to live your life in your own way. This methodology will cause the Dem and the Rep to increase the size of government as the institute more and more controls over your life (until they acquire complete control like in communist countries) and the libertarians to decrease the size of government to almost nothing as you take on personal responsibility for your actions.

Libertarianism, from a party of defended principles, is a philosophy of life. It is a way to live your life as a free individual contributing member to society as compared to being a slave to the Dem or Rep lead government.

This of course is a hard pill to swallow for most because it means they have to get off their lazy butt and take care of things rather then being a leach off others. Therefore they present us like kooks.

For the first 100 years or so when people were responsible for their actions our country was the greatest thing going in the entire world. Now that the government is in control and pushing its weight around we are despised by most of the world. If we put the government dog back on its leash we can again be the greatest...but not until we control the government.

Well, hope this answers your questions.

The LP has several hundred local elected candidates on things like school boards and city councils. Occasionally LP members will be elected or appointed to lower state and federal office, or members of other parties will vote in a libertarian way. So far, the LP has not run credible candidates for top offices such as Governor and President.

I consider libertarian ideas realistic in the sense that they worked in the US for about the first 100 years, and have been successful in other places where they have been individually applied. While current US policy is not all that libertarian, I support for the LP growing, especially among younger people.

Libertarians comprehend the adverse impacts of government. they suspect that liberty replaced into enstilled at delivery and that tyrannys take them. They comprehend aggressive markets and vote against government waste and pollutants! they suspect that anybody might desire to be loose from oppression and that the only thank you to do it extremely is thru freedom utilising the loose marketplace to maximise society's production! They comprehend why u.s. replaced into super and why we are actually heading in the direction of socialism. Libertarians are no longer for specific interest communities or politicians, they are for the persons!

True Libertarians believe in not having a large federal government, in the involvement in our daily lives. In essence; the FDA, DMV, Federal and State prisons along with other government entities should be privatized or contracted for outsourcing.

1) They are socially liberal and believe you should be able to use illegal drugs if you wish.
2) They are fiscally conservative and think you should work for a living.
Point one will be loved by liberals
Point will be loved by conservatives.
Where do you fall on that colorful scale?
Some of us like it both ways.
