I have been taking Tylenol pm pills for a long time and don't really work for me that well anymore. I have to take more in order for them to work now. I am trying to quit cause the side effects in the long run will not be good especially when I get older.. I am only 21. To help me stop my habit I found a new pill at Wal-mart called Sleep MD. So far it has worked really well for me and I have gotten back to my regular sleep schedule I had before. It doesn't take long for me to sleep and I sleep like a baby. The good thing about is its 100% drug free! No risk of dependency like Tylenol. After 30 days of using it I should be able to sleep with out it. You don't even feel groggy in the morning and wake up tired and moody. I love that, and I know you do to baby..I only take Tylenol p.m when I am sick to relieve pain.

In the past I have used Trazadone, which is a tricylic anti-anxiety drug. It is relatively mild with few side effects. A range of dose is safe, between 50 & 150mg is common. Ask your doctor! Also, I have used Remeron, 5 to 15mg at bedtime. It is not habit forming, has a common side effect of vivid dreams, and sometimes weight gain. My doctor told me that it has the unusual property of being more effective in smaller doses. It is a mild anti-depressant and helps regulate the sleep cycle. It is also an anti-anxiety drug. I quit taking it because of the weight gain. Currently I am taking nortryptyline for nerve pain from an injury to my neck. It also is helpful in getting me to sleep. When I told my doctor I'd stopped the Remeron (after which my anxiety levels rose) we discussed returning to Trazadone but he didn't like adding one more drug into the mix I currently take. Instead he doubled my dose of Nortryptyline, because it is also a tricyclic, like Trazadone. Turns out it also is an anti-anxiety medicine! It's working great for me! In the past I've also used Benedryl and also hydroxyzine (also known as Atarax -the spelling on this might be off) with good results. Hydroxyzine is an anti-itch, anti-anxiety drug. Good luck. Confer carefully with your doctor!

Sometimes I take Tylenol PM, or benadryl, which is the same ingredient in the TPM. If I've had a particularly bad day and I'm really keyed up, I'll occasionally take a valium.

I would never take pills for that. There ere different ways for relaxation, one should be able to control himself, and find out what's the cause for insomnia, then relaxing all the face and body muscles, you often go into deep sleep.

there's some really good homeopathic remedies which don't cause dependency. I like Hyland's Calms, you can also try drinking chamomile tea, but be careful because many people have ragweed allergy. sweet dreams ;-)
