Hi, this will finally tell me whether the folks at yahoo answers are "all that"!
I have a notebook from hp pavilion with Vista. My cd/dvd worked fine up until the last week. Now, it will not "see" anything there. I checked it out with the device manager. It said that there was a problem. I tried everything...nothing worked. I finally deleted the driver and fully expected to be able to download a new driver. But, I cant find it anywhere.
So, Yahoo Answer Folks...tell me how or, where I can get this driver. If you can't....I will tell all that you folks are not worth the cyber time you take from us. And that your site should be deleted. Thus, if you cant answer this and provide me with the drivers....then, why should you be even available to answer anything. I say this only because I have been told that you can answer almost anything.
We will see...

Just wanted to say that Joseph had the best answer. For those of you who were defensive..."whatever"...and those who blamed Microsoft..."I totally agree"...thanks to the one who had a solution...

The first clue was Vista, maybe you should be mad at Windows for their product that was put on the market before it was ready to be. You can tell by the tone of your question that your are angry for some reason. Maybe because you allowed yourself to be a test person for Microsoft?? That is your fault and not Yahoo Answers. Second you should check with HP, maybe they have the driver that you need to run with Vista. But I can tell you now, we at Yahoo Answers won't rush to get Vista. Thank you for your question!!!!

It is actually a registry problem, i work at a computer store and have had this problem many times already. It is partly the stupid operating system. but then XP also has this problem. So just look up online for registry error with vista cd drive and you should find solutions there. you have to delete some files out of the registry.

How good people are here is not up to you to judge, I know how good I am and no need for someone like you to come up with some rubbish and lame comments to challenge people on here.
