Be warm before you stretch. Its the opposite of how people think to stretch before working out.

Also when you watch something like Bring it On. Notice how their movements are SHARP. The fastest way to not make it is to look flimsy. You want to look confident. Even if you think youre overdoing it, you are not. Unless your competing to be on a very competive team, where kids have been in cheer training since grade school, this should help get you thru.

Another good tip for try outs, is you need to be able to learn and memorize a routine quickly. This can also take training your mind. Practice this like the above post said with cheers from utube.

1st- for more flexibility do gymnastics at your local gymnastics.....gymnastics place (whats it called...a gym???) if you cant because its expensive stretch. Stretching helps you get more flexible. When you stretch, make sure you dont push yourself to hard or you may pop a tendon.

2nd- Practice. Youtube has lots of tutorials for cheerleading stunts that you can learn to do.....with a friend, of course. A friend can help you keep your balance and keep you safe.

3rd-practice your stunts on the beach, grass, or buy a thin matress or those foam pad things to keep your self protected.

4th- if you feel you need this get adult supervision.

5th- get a mentor or friend whos already a cheerleader to help you improve your stunts, stretches and hand movements
(someone whos not new to this stuff can help alot when your new to it, so its good to have an expert near by)

Stretch once or twice a day and hold each stretch for 20-30 seconds each. You dont want to overdo it but you do want to push yourself. Make sure your arms always popping also.

I'm a cheerleader. So your going to need good, strong leg & arm muscles. & [If you wanna look good] have a REALLY high kick. Like almost touching your hand if your in a high "V". And in stunts use your legs NOT YOUR BACK! Trust me, it f**** up your back BAD! So do it right.

Work everyday to stretch your muscles. Everyday go a little harder than you actually can. You'll be soar until you get used to it but it will help a lot.

stretch everyday and get a pilates tape for stretching and then just do gymnastics and try to get a personal trainer if you can afford it
