Ok- i have designed a clothing line and it is growing very rapidly. I need to create a website ASAP and i have been looking around and talking to people I know. All I have been coming up with is sites like geocities or linkingcommunities.com that have boundaries and limits. It wont even let me create a domain name. I dont know if I need to make my own pages and save as an html document then host them with servers or what I need to do. I just want to create a website with pretty much no boundaries. I also need it to be able to link to paypal or something so people can purchase my shirts and put in a credit card. i do not want a cheap website with cheap hosting. i am willing to pay but need to know the right direction to go.. any help?

Firstly, you don't want to have a business website hosted by Geocities or some other community web site service. It's going to be a big turn off for your customers. You need to have your own site with your own domain name. A really good host is Site5. They have a good deal going now where hosting is only $5 a month. The best price for registering domain names is iPowerWeb. Registering a domain name with them is only $6.50 a year (other companies charge up to $35 or more a year!).
If you don't know how to build/maintain a website (including XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ideally some PHP), then you are definitely going to need to hire someone who does. It's probably not a great idea to use your buddy who's just learning HTML. For a good, sturdy e-commerce site, you need someone who really knows what they're doing.
There are many shopping cart programs that you can get (ZenCart, CubeCart, etc...) that are compatible with PayPal and should be fairly simple for an experienced webmaster to integrate into your site.
Having a website can be costly, with domain registration, hosting costs, and paying someone to design and maintain it, but if you pull it off it will give your business a huge boost. Then you can start advertising with AdWords and Yahoo! advertising, and it will grow from there.

Charge by the hour instead of by the project and make sure your clients know that you are limited on your hours to work. Don't be afraid to refuse business that you cannot handle and concentrate on what you can do. The more experience you have the faster you'll be so that you can work your way up to handling the bigger accounts. As your business grows you will either have to hire help or turn the business to your full time endeavor and that's not such a bad thing. I'm sure others only wish they were in your shoes.

ReadyHosting is probably your best bet for Hosting and domain name registration which is included for free. Their basic package is $99 / year and includes a basic ShopingCart application. If you're not familiar with web design I'd suggest you go and look for a designer. You can try VodaBids or CraigsList or some of the other online sites. Here are a couple of websites that can get you a cheap domain and an easy drag and drop webstie creation program.

the domain name is easy - you enter one in their search engine and they tell you if it is available. You buy it (shouldn't be more than $8 a year. then you download the creatiion software and make your site. These have everything you need. Then you press a button that says "publish" and blammo! you got your site. They also allow you to submit the site to the search engines. Have fun

I believe that Yahoo! has some e-commerce options that enable you to build an online store. They also have domain registration services and hosting too.

Well you probably should just get somebody to design a site for you if you haven't really dabbled too much in website creation. I would recommend Dreamweaver for professional sites and thats pretty simple to use. To host the sight i would recommend GoDaddy.
