I am on porch in San Antonio watching them and wondered if anyone else does that...

Oh yeah.....tonight they are out in droves. I live in Illinois and just came in from a walk - they were everywhere! The fields were lit up and glowing like crazy, it was really fantastically beautiful. Whenever I see lightning bugs like that it reminds me of fairy tales.....;-)

Here in Fla. You Might see a Few Lighting Bugs.........But Nothing Like "LOVE BUGS" that are so thick right now, and Such a Nuisance ! They are 2 ugly black Flying bugs stuck together!! They Do Havoc to Your Cars and winshields. They Splatter all over your Vehicle. ( Gotta Wash them off immediately, or they leave a Stain) They were an experiment at U.S.F. and a few got loose, Multiplied so fast, we can not control them. They Say some are even in Georgia Now. What A Mess! I'd Rather have your Lightning Bugs! (smile)

Yes but I usually watch them through the window because we also have too many mosquitos at night that will eat you alive. Fireflies are cool but haven't seen any yet this year....

yeah!! i always catch them...i love them (lol, lightning bugs, and for some reason, i thought that was something my cousins and i made up while everyone else called them fireflies)

We have them here in Austin too. I can watch through the patio doors. Call 'em what you like they've fascinated me since I was a kid. We used to see how many we could catch in a jar.

Yes, we have them in Maryland. It is cool watching them at dusk!
