I think that many people (including some who answered your question) just don't know the facts and rely on eye for an eye sound bites. Here is some solid information about the death penalty, with souces listed below.

The death penalty costs much more than life in prison.

The death penalty risks executing innocent people (124 already exonerated) and DNA is available in less than 10% of all homicides. It is not a guarantee against the execution of innocent people.

No reputable study has shown the death penalty to be a deterrent. In fact, homicide rates are higher in states with the death penalty.

Life without parole is now on the books in 48 states. It means what it says. Supermax prisons are terrible places to spend the rest of your life.

The death penalty can be very hard on families of murder victims. Many murder victim family members across the country argue that the drawn- out death penalty process is painful for them and that life without parole is an appropriate alternative.

The death penalty does not apply to the worst of the worst. It applies to defendants with the worst lawyers.

48% of Americans prefer life without parole and 47% prefer the death penalty. We are learning. Eye for an eye judgments may sound good but they do not make sense.

First, please learn how to spell like a proper, literate human being who is fluent in the usage of the English language. I honestly had difficulty reading that slaughtering of simple vocabulary.

Alright, all criticizing of your literacy aside, now on to the question at hand...

You question about if WE have been to prison? The real question though, have YOU been to prison before? Have you been to the high-security penitentiaries that they lock the dangerous inmates into? Did you actually spend a few years rotting away inside the bleak walls of a 8x10 cell, wondering every day if someone was going to kill you for something to do.

Something I've learned over the years is that you never talk about what you haven't experienced.

If you think life isn't fair and people need help, go help some homeless guy, down on his luck, working for a living but still stuck on the street because he can't afford the price of a rental appt. in a boomtown city, living shamefully out of a shelter some nights, on the streets other nights. Those are the people who need help and to be given a fair chance.

In my book and eye for an eye is the only way to go.
Someone kills someone, they get the same treatment.

If the government would allow this as a form of punishment I guarantee the crime rate would be half or less of what it currently is.
Stiffer penalties = fewer criminals.

But as long as we have bleeding heart libs in this country that will never happen.

who ever said the death penalty was the right thing, i don't think its the right thing. It is completely wrong, because the criminal should be suffering the consequences not escaping it by an easy death. In addition, by engaging in death penalty the state is involved in inhumane practices, which in my opinion should not be allowed. The death penalty should be abolished and a life sentence should be imposed instead.

has someone you know been a victim of a senseless crime? have you seen one of your friends gunned down in cold blood because the guy was pissed at this girlfriend? have you seen a two year old little girl so crippled by her mothers boyfriend because he raped her so badly she will never be able to have sex much less children? have you seen women that were so beaten and mistreated that they feel they have no other option than to take matters in their own hands? have you done your homework?

Your argument would be more compelling if it wasn't filled with spelling and grammatical errors.

Because right now you just sound like a rambling idiot with no clue.
