Is there anyone that has one, specifically a Bob Marshall? I'm not interested in Hilasons, wasn't impressed.

My question is, how exactly is the cantle designed, is it rigid and if so is it similar to the cantle of a treed saddle? I have a mule with issues of the cantles not being wide enough, plus lipomas on his back. I can ride him english just fine, but we are on his 3rd western saddle and there is NO WAY that a western saddle will fit him anymore. I just had him to the vet today and the vet agreed.

Any help on the Bob Marshall??

The lipomas he has behind his shoulders and the flare of his shoulders prevent a western saddle bar. I won't even consider one anymore, been the custom route also.

I need something that doesn't put rigid pressure on the lipomas behind his shoulders, thats why the english works so well for trailriding.

Ty for all the answers so far, i appreciate it.

I should of added this is a show mule that I compete in mule shows and horse shows with, sorry about that. So I really need some sort of 'western' looking saddle to do that. For trails, I can ride him english and use him for a pack mule. Thank you tho!

They aren't really Tree'less' but less tree. There is some support to the front so they won't fit every horse. I know, I own one that is too wide for the widest Bob Marshall. How wide is your mule? Is he wide and flat or just flat or just wide? Try going to www.horsesaddleshop.com They have a great saddle fitting section with templates that might help you.

I got a BareFoot Treeless saddle. It has a rigid cantle but I don't know if its the same as a treed saddle (looks like it)

My BF has one and loves it. If you look online you can see how they are made. If you get one be ready to feel eveything move on your mule!! It's quite strange at first. I'm not crazy about them but I know many that are, just to each his or her own!! Best of luck finding what you need. www.bobmarshall.com

Sorry, no. But--
Can you ride him with a bareback pad instead? (One without the stirrups, the ones with stirrups are dangerous because of the lack of a tree.) If so, that's what I would do. I ride without a saddle unless it's a horse that acts up without it. The pad would protect you from any bony ridges and be safe and comfortable for you and your mule.
