how about your tachograph, it would show the hours driven and it would be illegal but i think you would be wasting your time arguing with them.

If you work for a company that does interstate commerce, this does mean only you but anybody, United States Parcel for example then your work hours are governed by the Interstate Commerce Commission. I don't remember what the terms are but you can only drive and work for a certain amount of hours without at least 8 hours rest. Also if you drive more than 100 miles from your base you must keep a log book and you can be stopped and asked to show it to the proper authorities.
You can drive for 5 hours but if you have to unload the truck this is considered part of your driving time, this is why I said drive and work.

If you signed an employment contract that states a specific ammount of hours of work, you cannot change the terms unless the employer accepts.
If the employer does not accept, you can`t really do anything than search for another company to work for.
I have seen a lot of offers for drivers recently, I hope you won`t need to look much.

I question the legality of this on numerous fronts.
I see you're a driver, are you operating a commercial vehicle? If so, are you carrying any hazardous materials? If you are, it's a violation of state and federal commercial vehicle laws.
This may also be an FLSA violation based on the number hours you are working and your type of employement.
(For the other poster who said 14 hours a day is too long, as a police officer I work 12 hour days, and routinely have to work 18 hour days for major crimes and other incidents.)

Put it inwriting and send it by certified mail. Tell them in the letter that you feel that it is unsafe for you and other motorist sfor the drivers to drive for such long hours. I believe that there is a legal limit to how much you can drive. If you send this letter they will understand that you are protecting yourself and are getting read for a lawsuit against them if necessary. If they have common sense they will understand that a law suit would make them look bad and could get them in trouble for endangering the public.

Go to union or citizens advise.
Or solicitor.
Also, and I have not checked, is there a driving section in questions?
Lorry drivers are governed in the hours they can drive by a tachograph in their vehicles here in the UK.
Soon to be for minibus drivers also.
You have a case, but get the right answers from a pro, not us.

Mr. dave,
You have four options before you:-
1. Be a crying baby (go on complaining about the present situation).
2. Grin and bear it (if possible).
3. Look for an alternative job and jump out when you get one.
4. Put up your papers and walk out (and be jobless!)
Well, now the option is yours. Best of luck!

If your employer insist on you driving you let them know that this is illegal in some States. Since you didn't say what State you live in, I couldn't do the research for you.
You can search yourself though, for Drowsy Driving Laws. If their is a law in your State then your employer has to comply.
Below you will find some articles in reference to the Driving while Drowsy.

You work 14 hours a day? That is way too many for any person.
Find a new job.
