The jet stream helps determine a great deal of the weather patterns we experience. Also, airline flights can be much longer or much shorter.

it occurs at high levels. It is like a very fast wind.

Jet streams can provide passenger jets with a "free ride" - or at least a cheap one.

If you fly in the jet stream (in the direction it's going), you can save both time and fuel.

Jet streams forms at the boundary of large masses of air when there is a significant difference in temperature e.g. the interface of the polar and temperate circulation cells.

They are found at high levels in the atmosphere (stratosphere) & are best described as fast currents of air. Jet planes use them to dramatically shorten journey times.

it is the latest theory about the origin and development of monsoons. Jet strem is a band of fast moving air at a height of 12 kms in mid latitudes. They r of two kinds-easterly and westerly .The wind speed in the westerly jet stream varies between 200 and 400 km per hr

It is a river of high altitude high speed air.

Put a jet into it while flying with it, and you arrive at your destination that much faster, while expending that much le$$ fuel.

It also carries weather patterns with it.

It has no "use" for "us" other than assisting with weather prediction.

it's the very fast moving air above us (very very high above us).

Can assist large planes in flying further to bomb places with a limited amount of fuel.
