Anzio. Almost a complete catastrophe for the Allied forces. The Germans aligned some of their toughest divisions quickly against the bridgehead that had been established, including the 3rd Panzergrenadier and the Herman Goering Panzer Division. The result was a stalemate for almost 4 months. Not exactly an Allied victory.
