I read the book, but still did get a few questions from "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, well here they are:

1. What do you think Jonas has done wrong?

2. How are the assignments decided? are they appropriate?

1. Jonas started giving memories to Gabe, and grew so attached to Gabe that he couldn't carry out his mission according to plan.

2. Assignments are determined by the elders, who watch the children and take note of where they spend free time volunteering. If a child spends a lot of time with younger children, they might be assigned Teacher.

They are appropriate in that society, but if it was today, there would be a lot of controversy... things you liked when you were 10 years old aren't necessarily the things you like when you are 20 or even older.

1.) Jonas messed up by giving Gabe his memories. Aside from the fact that it threw Gabe off, it was just a no-no.

2.) The assignments are decided by the council thing, who decides by what they see the child is interested in. Usually the assignments are good for the kid.

1. i think jonas did nothing wrong i mean maybe it's wrong that he tried to give memories and change the way some people live in the society they live in, in the "sameness", but if you analize it the only possible thing he did wrong was follow his instincts and not the rules

2. the comitee of elders chose them, based on a thorough observation on how the children behave and at what sort of stuff they are good at. they also take in account where they spent the hours of service they had to do and on their abilities and capacities
