Phewwwww! I sold my camper van today and the new owner will pick it up at the end of the week, it has less then a quarter of a tank of gas but I'd like to send him off with more than that, we're talking fifty dollars worth if I fill it, but I already sold it for a give-a-way price. How much will be a goodwill token for me to put in the tank?

A quarter tank feels a bit mean. Anything over a third would be ok. You don't have to be Mother Teresa, but it's a plus if you behave better than a used car salesman!

Between a quarter and a half should be OK. You don't owe the buyer anything, so you're being a nice guy in doing that. I'm sure you'll check the oil and other fluids too, right?

15 or 20 bucks. If you sold it for a good price he should be thankful to have anything in there.
