because they are insecure...i cannot stand drinkers..i do not srink and will not ever drink..i have drunks in my family who have turned me off of alcohol and i dont need it to have a good time..what i dont understand is...when you are drunk...why do you need more? people are crazy effing losers...i know i will get judged for saying that but look at the fatalities with drunk driving...nobody will ever learn and look how many AA meetings there are..obviously theres a huge need for them,,theres numerous ones every single day at anytime of the day or night

It's just an American tradition. After a few "cheers", everyone gets REAL happy and silly....that makes the celebration that much more fun.....(and the stories to tell later on)

It's a social thing to do; it loosens people up so they are more comfortable in meeting new people. Some people just take it too far.

I used to ask that during Holidays when family got together.. I didn't like it so I would leave..Guess it's their way to relax and have fun. sorry, I will stay boreing...

actually they use the celebration as a reason to drink alcohol...we're all drunks, we'll use any excuse to drink!
