A "multiple" is the opposite of a factor.

A multiple is a number that can be obtained by multiplying a certain other number by some integer ...

so multiples of 3 are

3, 6, 9, 12 ...

(3x1), (3x2), (3x3), (3x4)... etc

Similar sorts of questions are:

Is such-and-such-a number an even number? - ie is it a multiple of 2?

(2,4,6,8,10,12...)

Is this number divisible by ... eg 7
ie. is it a multiple of 7?
