Building Tortoise table! How tall walls?

I am building a tortoise table for my russian tortoises, a male and female, How tall should the side walls be so they wont escape?

I made mine 2 1/2' tall 4 my Leopards and Red Foots, I did so 4 2 reasons

1......So they don't get the whole the grass is greener on the other side thing going on and flipping over ....

2......So the don't get stressed by all the activity in the room, and having people looking in on the all the time....Plus it gives them security...

Alot of tortoises get stressed , and after a while they could care less like my Red Foots, they rather fallow you around begging like a dog than anything....But, it is a good idea to let them get adjusted on there own terms and not stress them.

Being that you have Russians you shouldn't have to much of a problem with the being stressed from activity in the room, but,I wouldn't want to chance it, they are going to be with you for some time and a short transition period could make a world of diffrence for them.....

a general rule that i go with is that russian tortoises can climb the height equivilant to the length of their shell just don't forget to bear in mind that they grow lol.. pluss to be on the safe side i would add a few inches and don't leave any oppertunity for espace they are called escape artists for nothing

About 1 1/2 times taller than the torts can reach from the highest spot in the tank. Higher is always good, though.

Hello..depends on how big they get, I would say to be safest it will have to be two & half times their height @ all times & to be careful where you place things so they can't climb up on & out !! Take Care :)
