I believe that the average Iraqi would love to have peace. Sadly, the
Sunni and Shiite Extremists wont allow it. Unless the Iraqi Government steps up and does their job, peace will elude Iraq.

There's no such thing as "the Iraqis". There are Iraqi people. Some of them have a vested interest in war (luckily those are a minority, as in any conflict), some believe that war is necessary under the present conditions and others want peace. The very fact that so many of Americans are willing to treat the problem as though it was "the Iraqis" shows that the beginning of this war and its continuation is based in a very colonial attitude. That is why we're part of the problem over there, and not the solution. So long as we're trying to divide good guys and bad guys, those for us and those against us, we're playing the White Man's Burden game, and we will keep facing stiff opposition.

The hardcore Muslims down there just want the Americans leave so they can kill each other without restraint...this could cause the whole Middle East to erupt into war...Saudi Arabia would support the Shi'ites i believe and Iran would support the Sunnas...America would have a split decision cause i think they have allies on both sides...This war would cause the rest of the world to get involved because of the oil...This has the potential of causing a WWIII...which is why we are not leaving until they have a completely sound government.

Iraqis want peace, but the government does not. They will work it out but it will take over a decade to reconstruct a new government in Iraq.

Because their differences are based on the fiction of religion. Do they want peace? Of course. It is classic case of revenge not having a third indifferent disinterested party to mediate and adjudicate. The human universal relation to property is not usable for the two combating plaintiffs because they both feel they have right to it and the other is a wrong believer.

Every group in Iraq has its own agenda. Many are 90 to 180 degrees apart. The Cart of State is being powered by a team of horses all going in different directions.

The Sunnis and the Shia don't as a whole but the people do. The Sunnis would not mind peace but they want to in power.

I think individually, as most people everywhere, they want peace.
The problem is when you break people, particularly Iraqis, down into religious factions, then they begin to want peace on those terms - whether it be land, oil revenue, or political influence, then they want concessions for their religious faction.

They probably would have had peace, long before now, if the CIA hadn't stirred things up, between the Sunnis and the Shi'ites.

The same reason almost every person on the planet can't. They don't know what they're doing. Also, Iraq is not a collective mind.
