I am going to get acrylic nails for my graduation. This is my first time getting them so I need some help. When I get them, how long do they usually last? (especially when you wash your hair and do the dishes).
Does it hurt to get them taken off and what product for my natural nails should I use to keep them strong?

i luv acrylics...i keep them all the time...they usually go about 10 days before you`ll need a fill...u can keep them looking nice by putting a topcoat on every couple of days or so at home, in between when u go to the salon...u can dissolve them off with acetone...

Well I've gotten acrylic nails about 3 times only but that's plenty enough for me... They look good if you get them done right but once they start growing out they look tacky. Ihad mine for about 2-3 weeks at a time. When mine grew out, the ends started to chip and they started to come off all by themselves. I didn't use acetone or anything, i just carefully wedged a tip of my other nail underneath the part that started to come off and slowly broke it free. It may take a while but at least it won't hurt as much as in the salon.. =P my nails were weak and they looked crappy so im just trying to keep my natural nails long and strong because that's the best way to go.. =)

They can last up to two weeks, depending on new nail growth, and you will have to get a "fill". Make sure to a protective top coat over the polish to protect the nail polish underneath from chipping away. When you take them off, it doesn't necessary have to hurt. Soak your fingertips/acrylics in acetone (the nail salon can do this for you) for about 15 minutes to soften the acrylic. As for the natural nail protection.... acrylics WILL weaken your nail bed unless you ask for a Silk Wrap Acrylic Nails at the salon. The Silk Wraps are very expensive, about twice as much as the regular acrylics, and silk wrap fills are not cheap either.
If you want to wear acrylics for a short time.. then I recommend that you get the regular acrylics.

Acrylic nails are exceptionally tacky.

If you're going to get them keep them short. They will last 2-3 weeks before they need to be filled, regardless of you washing your hair or doing the dishes.

When it comes time to take them off, your fingers will be soaked in acetone and then they will be taken off with a pair of clippers, ripping off the first few layers of the natural nail.

There isn't a product that will help to bring the original natural nail back, all products claiming that are bull. You will just have to wait the 4-6 months until your nail completely grows out.

washing your hair and doing the dishes doesnt really bang them up i try to get mine done every two weeks at the longest! DO NOT GET INTO CHLORINE WATER OR USE BUGS SPRAY!!!! you will regret it if you are getting the white tips! if you do use bug spray a lot then i suggest getting your nails painted a solid color! the first time ussually feels a little sensitive go ahead and try to get them done at least 4 to 5 days before graduation if that isnt possible get them done asap... ask around your community for somone that is known for doing a good job and remember when you are asking to look at that persons nail! i suggest getting a normal plain manicure then the french manicure to your nails under the acrylic are healthy... getting them off doesnt hurt to bad( i dont tollerate pain well) but have them professionally taken off it is safer... getting them put on could take up to an hour depending on the person who is doing them... you might want to take a pain reliever before hand and what ever you do DO NOT MOVE AROUND WHEN THEY ARE PUTTING YOUR NAILS ON! the drills will cut you if you jerk around! i pay aprox. $35.00 for a full set without any kind of design.... do not try to get solar nail your fist time.

They have pills, and clear nailpolish at CVS, that makes your nails strong for acrylic nails. They usually last around 4-5 weeks. Well that's how much they last of you get them done at a good salon, and take very good care of them. The salon can take them off with this machine tipe thing, and it's pain-free

Hey!
Ok I have acrylic nails. I've only gotten them done 3 times. I've been happy with them. They last pretty long and you dont really have to worried about washing your hair or the dishes. They arent gonna fall off too easily. But they grind your nails and then stick the fake stuff on top of it. I had mine off for a while and it took 3-4 months for my nails to grow back out and look healthy again. Its bittersweet, they look really pretty on, but ugly off.

Oh and it doesnt really hurt to have them taken off. I think it feels different but it doesnt hurt that bad.

And congrates on your graduating! WHOA!
lol

Usually you wait a month and have to fill it, but if you are only getting it for graduation then you might want to wait until you are ready to take them off and soak your fingers in acetone, this makes the nails easier to peel off. If you have the salon take off the nails it will hurt (at least to me it hurt). They are durable, but take care of them because you can't do much to keep your nails strong after they are on. Also, after your take off the nails your nails are thinner so you want to keep your cuticles moist with oils (do this while you have the nails on too) and put on a coat of nail strenghtening polish.

They last 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 weeks. You should just get them to do a french manicure (polish white tips on your natural nails)

it last about two weeks before you need a fill in which means in two weeks your nails will start to grow and the growth can be visible to take them off it doesn't hurt you can soak them in acetone at the nail salon and to keep them strong buy a regular clear nail polish and put some garlic and cinnamon in it ;)
