They have a check valve at the bottom of the filler neck to prevent gas siphoning. The hose would have to bend at a crazy angle to get into the tank, which most won't

Most modern vehicles have a restrictive device in the filler neck to prevent siphoning gas but you might try a smaller diameter hose to get past this.

Yes, There is a coil spring in the filler neck to block a hose fron reaching into the tank.

People were getting gas stolen so they put a screen at the bottom of the fill hose.

newer cars have coil springs in the neck that wont allow a hose through, per my husband
*** DO NOT DRILL OR CUT A HOLE IN THE TANK.. the friction and heat can spark a fire....**** (experience as a P&F dispatcher)

Just drill a hole in the fuel tank, and let it drain into several gas cans.

No, new cars don't have a filter and since gas is so expensive, I think it is a crime that might start happening again.
